      Certified Medical Assistant

Trained in EPIC and Centricity. I can demonstrate proficiency in the application of clinical knowledge as it applies to patient care activity in a clinic setting and have the ability to carry out technical skills within the scope of licensure in a safe & efficient manner. I am responsible for answering patient phone calls and can demonstrate effective decision-making skills and ensuring the welfare of the patient as a priority when making judgments. I handle lab results by either mailing normal ones or calling to explain abnormal ones ensuring the patient is completely understanding of their results. I am responsible for ordering labs, placing referrals, communications with skilled nursing facilities, refilling of medications, processing of dirty instruments, maintaining the stock room and its levels, processing lab specimens to be sent out, performing EKG’s, performing A1C’s, assisting physicians with rooming, assessing and procedures for patients. I actively participate in group discussions and problem-solving. I possess great organizational skills and the ability to multitask comfortably. I have the ability also to work under significant stressful situations. Working in Internal Medicine has given me a unique understanding of geriatrics and those with chronic medical conditions requiring more personalized hands-on care and specialized knowledge of those conditions and treatments. Certified Medical Assistant

Continuing my 19th year as a Certified Medical Assistant, and into my 14th year of working in Internal Medicine. With my friendly demeanor, great attitude, and patient-focused work ethic, I was encouraged shortly after starting here to apply for their next step up from Medical Assistant, which is Medical Assistant 2. I work well with others as part of a team and am always able to lead with a positive attitude while working in a fast past environment. TVC uses EPIC as does PH, so I maintained my sharp skills use of this program. My responsibilities included rooming patients, and vital signs, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examination, assisting with procedures, quickly addressing patient needs via their mychart portal, and performing EKGs, A1Cs, and other points of care tests. I communicated lab results in a very timely manner. I processed refill requests within minutes of receiving them. The provider I worked with was very interested in dermatology, so we did many in-office procedures which allowed me to use my five years of General Surgery skills to work side by side with my provider, ensuring a fluid flow for the patient. Being an MA2 meant additional responsibilities. Among mine were running of controls for POC testing each morning, processing instruments for sterilization daily as needed, continued monitoring of supplies watching for expiration, taking part in the training of new hires, and students doing their externship in a one-on-one style until sufficiently ready to be on their own. I was always referred to by everyone as "the positive one" and I took that role seriously. I was the oldest one in our clinic, and the girls looked up to me for guidance and knowledge, both of which I gave generously whenever asked. I believe working in a happy workplace is one of the keys to keeping people and reducing high turnovers. I love trying to be a light wherever I work Show less
