      I joined the Weapons Operating Centre (WOC) on promotion to become part of the Standards and Standardization (Stds and Stdz) team and my main duties included:• Leading the Standardization service to Project Teams within the WOC. • Regularly interacting with various stakeholders both internal and external to the Ministry of Defence, providing technical support to Subject Matter Experts and Project Teams. • Owned, produced and maintained Stds and Stdz Section Communication Plan. • Owned, produced and maintained a Standards Database available to the WOC, • Lead for maintaining the Weapons Engineering Intranet webpages and also was the main point of contact within the WOC on Stds and Stdz training/awareness.• Communications lead for the Stds and Stdz team,• Organised and co-ordinated a series of workshops with internal stakeholders to the Stds and Stdz service within the WOC. • Secretary for a committee that had members both internal and external to the MoD, • Produced data packs for UK reps attending NATO committee meetings• Assisted the Quality Assurance team in a Safety and Engineering review within the WOC.• Responsible for producing the Stds and Stdz information for the Quality Management System used by the WOC. Show less I completed my Advanced Modern Apprenticeship working for the MoD at Rosyth Dockyard, Scotland During my time as an apprentice; I attended Carnegie College and successfully achieved the following qualifications:• SVQ Level Two in Performing Engineering Operations.• National Certificate and a Performing Engineering Operations Level Two qualification in Fabrication and Welding. • Higher National Certificate in Fabrication, Welding and Inspection through day release.My second and third years were spent completing the following work based placements working alongside Babcock Marine to achieve an SVQ Level Three in Engineering Leadership: • Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) project team; creating and editing detailed drawings for the Waste Treatment plants on board the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier. • Dimensional Control Team; conducting surveys using Theodolite software on block builds for the QEC project; processing results and liaising with Production with relevant feedback. • Engineering Fridge Shop; preparing and carrying out tests on various plant and equipment, recording data and communicating technical information.       In October 2014, I joined Babcock International as part of the Assembly Cycle A planning team for the Prince of Wales Aircraft carrier and my main duties include:• Populate Activities with Work Orders and Operation Lines in order to assist Production teams with a step by step guide to complete various assembly procedures.• Create Outfit Packs and Shop Orders containing the necessary material order for the corresponding activities and work orders. • Develop processes in order to achieve the end result quickly and efficiently as I quite often work to a tight deadline. • Liaise with Production Supervisors and Material Controllers to ensure that the customer’s needs are being met to the highest standard, on time. • Share good working practice, and assist with day-to-day problem solving within the Planning team. This involves working through a number of lists and validating data using an online database. • Lead point of contact within the planning team and responsible for attending daily meetings with Production.• Assist the team with the planning of activities and material based on what is detailed on the Bill of Materials for the ship. • Manage the portfolio of Pipework for the forward end of the ship. This involves liaising with one of the projects major sub-contractors, HB Hydraulics on a day-to-day basis. • Attend weekly planning meetings to discuss and resolve issues with the weekly work to lists that the sub-contractors use. On a daily basis I deal with ad hoc queries from HB Hydraulics. • Resolve issues so that material can be delivered to the ship and fitted on time to assist with the overall schedule of the project.       I currently work as a Cost Controller (Engineer) for Defence Equipment and Support, Ships Cost Asssurance (S-CAG) which sits under the Project Controls function. S-CAG provide independent, high quality, professional cost management advice and support to all key MoD acquisition programmes. I carry out risk-based assessments on non-competitive tenders submitted by a number of leading defence contractors including Babcock, BAE Systems, Cammell Laird, Thales etc. I analyse contractor submitted cost data using various estimating techniques including bottom-up, parametric, comparative and three-point estimates to enable Ships (CAG) to produce Independent Cost Estimates which are used to support MoD customers make best Value for Money (VfM) decisions throughout the acquisition lifecycle. My main function in S-CAG at present is to carry out Corporate Governance and In-Contract Management on the Type 26 Global Combat Ship (GCS) ship build programme in Glasgow. This involves working within a team of Cost Engineers to support the Type 26 Project Team, Type 26 MOD Commercial and Type 26 Finance. I deal directly with BAE Systems industry partner working on all aspects of Type 26 In-Contract Management which involves investigating Estimate at Completion (EAC) submissions, Earned Value Management (EVM) data analysis for bespoke work packages, Risk and Opportunities management and analysis, conducting Supply Chain contract audits, as well as Cost and Scope growth analysis. Additional to my main duties, to support my Cost Engineering development, I undertake additional taskings, including; Allowable costs reviews of bids and submissions for contract extensions and placements from major defence industry partners throughout the country.
