  Construction Manager

  Refinery Soil Capping Project, Tyler, Texas. Mr. Peace performed project management duties including estimating, procurement, cost tracking and accounting, project scheduling, weekly progress reporting, cost projections, and client invoicing for this $500,000 design-build remediation project. He worked closely with design engineers to implement the remediation strategy and reduce engineering costs to the client.

  Peace performed project management for an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Emergency Response Action to address the impacts of a historical Mercury Mine Site which was in operation for over a century and abandoned in the late 1970s. It is estimated that a million cubic yards of mercury impacted tailings were displaced and capped with a two foot impermeable clay layer using hydraulic methods during the life of this $5.5 million remediation project. He performed project management duties including cost tracking and accounting, project scheduling, weekly progress reporting, cost projections, and client invoicing. Mr. Peace also supported all site activities including the soil stabilization and capping program, the demolition of the former millsite, the technical coordination of sampling activities to characterize and manage site waste streams, the off-site disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and Hydroseeding. He also acted as site Health and Safety Officer, and performed administration tasks for a 9 man work crew and superintendents. He coordinated activities with the EPA regulating body, the client, and design engineers from the site located in the rugged mountains of Lake County, California operating with limited utilities such as phone and internet service. Show less Remediation System for Semi-Conductor Facility. Mr. Peace constructed a remediation system at a semi-conductor manufacturing facility in the Denver area for the recovery of separate-phase (DNAPL), dissolved phase, and vapor-phase TCE. He managed the implementation of the second-phase of a remedial action plan, which required integration of existing and new remediation system components. He performed project management duties including cost tracking and accounting, project scheduling, weekly progress reporting, cost projections, and client invoicing. Mr. Peace worked closely with design engineers on procurement and process technologies to reduce cost through the construction and O & M phases of this $ 2.5 million remediation project. Show less Peace completed improvements to a sodium hypochlorite system for a municipal client who were unable to operate the system which was built by others. He was able to flush the system clear of aggregates which had disabled the system. Following flushing every piece of the system was inspected, and tested for operational capability. Dysfunctional components were repaired and or replaced. Mr. Peace coordinated with design engineers to address the problems of the system, correct them and bring the system back on line. Show less
