  During my postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health, I have contributed towards developing a novel nanotag-nanobody system called ALFA to visualize and reconstitute synaptic proteins in vivo and validated this system in the fly NMJ. This single step detection method bypasses the need to add secondary antibodies coupled to fluorophores and significantly reduces the distance between the protein epitope and the observed signal. This is of particular interest to researchers in synapse biology studying protein distribution within a tight and crowded cellular milieu. I have also contributed towards developing a customized single cell RNA sequencing workflow to study neuronal diversity in the Drosophila larval ventral nerve cord. Show less
