Jan 2010 - Jan 2020My role as Infrastructure Service Manager is to ensure that the overall IT infrastructure for several GSK’s critical systems is fit for purpose and provided in accordance with Service Level Agreements. I also act as the escalation point for operational service issues (covering all technologies, procedures and support teams), and project delivery approval (to ensure new services are built, tested and smoothly transitioned to live service). • Ownership – Responsible for end to end infrastructure services • Leadership – Engage, influence and negotiate with senior customers and stakeholders, including leadership of SWAT calls and After-Action Reviews (AAR). Represent entire infrastructure department at Customer Comm Cells and Service Reviews. • Standardization – Implement and execute standard, optimized infrastructure service management activities, including:• Availability – Responsible for end-to-end service infrastructure availability, including management of incidents, problems and change (inc. LIN management).• Backup – Responsible for ensuring complete confidence in ability to restore data at any time and recover business capability in event of disaster (IT Continuity Planning)• Capacity – Responsible for reducing system outages due to lack of capacity and saving money by optimizing capacity and by not deploying capacity too early.• Lifecycle – Responsible for reducing risk through elimination of single points of failures or data integrity risks as a result of fit for purpose reviews. Acts as approver for release into service. Responsible for lifecycle planning. • Cost – Responsible for showing how service costs change over time. • Knowledge – Responsible for knowledge share with customers and stakeholders, including monthly reporting. Build trust and credibility with customers and stakeholders. Storage team started to have a daily discussion on what changes are transpiring within the team.• Upon receiving positive feedback from storage team, the report was then shared to Unix team & followed by Maciej & Greg for an even more high-level view of all GHO Towers change controls.GSK Business Value:• Managers have visibility of changes that are submitted for approval on a daily basis.• They can get the right experienced people to work on changes or ask seniors to shadow the juniors on change controls.• It gives an opportunity to start a conversation with analyst and ask if they were comfortable with implementing change controls or need some help.• Managers are able to manage workload on an analyst if there is to much change under one name.• Managers can instruct change approvers to double check on changes that might be critical to the business.
