  While I completed my undergraduate degree at Boston University, I started at Boston English High School as an AVID tutor and an America Counts tutor, and then a long-term substitute teacher. After I graduated, I moved into a full-time position as a Geometry and Algebra 2 teacher. In this role, I designed and implemented differentiated lesson plans, and created an atmosphere that was conducive to student learning, and fostered confidence both socially and mathematically. I developed a school-wide initiative that raised state exam scores to the highest they had been in over three decades. I mentored three other teachers in the math department and was nominated as an Exemplary Teacher of Boston in 2012 and 2013. Show less

My work as the Teacher Leader included supporting teacher development through observations and feedback as well as planning and implementing school-wide projects to improve state exam scores. In my last year at KIPP, I became the Math and Art Department Chair and managed a team of 9 teachers by coordinating meetings, facilitating team building, and guiding data-driven professional development to promote student engagement and achievement.
