      Short Term Post to prepare one activity that forms part of Historic Environment Scotland's (HES) contribution to the 2016 Festival of Architecture, a nationwide year-long celebration of how architecture and design shapes Scotland. This role involved producing the core 366 image-a-day calendar of material from RCAHMS collections, and beyond, that will be displayed on Canmore and Social Media initiatives in 2016.The creation of this image-based calendar for 2016 involves:-Creating an excel database of both key dates in 2016 and an image bank of related material from our collections,-Identifying any existing image/text initiatives that can be incorporated into the calendar, such as already existing online galleries,-Creating communication descriptions for various social media platforms to accompany the t chosen image per day,-Recommending images to be digitised from RCAHMS collections for use in the project,-Helping the project manager to create a forward project plan for the RCAHMS initiative and contribution to RIAS Year of Architecture 2016.       A short term SCVO communications internship with Balerno Village Trust, a volunteer-led community development trust. The aim of my post was to develop the use of digital communication tools by the trust.       My role as Policy Executive includes responsible for strategic policy development and implementation at Historic Environment Scotland (HES). I am principally tasked with supporting our role under the Community Empowerment Act Scotland (2015). The following summarises my current duties - • Policy development and implementation across a wide range of historic environment policy areas• Supporting the development of strategic publications inc. Annual operating plans• Coordination of HES responses to Scottish Government and stakeholder consultations • Providing regular updates to Senior Management and HES Board• Producing strategic briefing papers for the Chief Executive, Board and stakeholders • Regular horizon scanning • Attendance at cross-sector stakeholder conferences on behalf of HES• Writing content on HES policy developments for both internal and external publicationsSpecific to Community Empowerment - • Joint production of policy materials concerning HES’s legislative duties under the Act• Regular presentations on key policy developments related to communities• Collating broad ranging data and content to produce tailored briefings for CPP's• Providing strategic support to staff developing new community engagement projects and events• Delivery of staff training on the Community Empowerment Act Show less My role as communications assistant at Historic Environment Scotland involves a wide range of responsibilities undertaken in a fast-paced mixed communications office. This requires considerable adaptability, time management and organisational skills to consistently produce high quality communications and administrative support. A large part of my work involves organising promotional filming and press visit to our properties in care from various media industries including television, local authorities, tourism organisations, community groups and students. In addition I am responsible for a number of administrative duties including; monitoring external mailboxes, managing the press and news registration databases, preparing meeting papers, writing minutes, designing powerpoints and printed materials and creating media reports for senior management and the HES board.Since March 2016 I have also been largely responsible for the management of the HES staff intranet (Wordpress) which includes proofing/uploading staff contributions, managing the online staff directory, supporting editors in the creation and maintenance of department pages and most recently redesigning the site to reflect new branding guidelines. In addition, I regularly contribute to social media channels, help produce copy for the monthly internal newspaper and have recently undertaken part responsibility for stakeholder engagement including the management of the database in line with the new HES corporate plan 2016 - 19.
