  In my role as a Student Teacher, I worked to assist the Lead Teachers of the classroom, help to maintain a positive, healthy, and safe environment for the children, and supervised children in small group activities such as art and reading stories.

  In addition to completing my student teaching hours at Mill Park Elementary in a 3rd grade classroom, I also served as an IA for the 23-24 school year. As a summer school IA I assisted the teacher in the instruction and support of ELD students at varying grade levels, instructed students in groups or individually, assisted the teacher in monitoring and documenting the progress of students, and provided input to the teacher on planning lessons and evaluating results. My responsibilities included planning and implementing a program of study meeting the individual needs and abilities of the students, advocating, modeling, and implementing the David Douglas School District Educational Racial Equity policy, demonstrating preparation and skill in working with students, staff, and families/caregivers from diverse backgrounds, creating a classroom environment that was conducive to learning, and assessing English language proficiency of students.
