Queen's University Belfast
2013 - 2013Exchange Program International Politics and Conflict StudiesThis was where I learned to explore Foucault, Derrida, and Nancy intensively, which, in the beginning, was a real challenge. However, I made fantastically multicultural friends at College Gardens, where I eventually learned a bit about fluid mechanics and its green energy application, especially wind-mill floater through regular conversations with engineering housemates.

Experience

Wesleyan College
Aug 2010 - May 2012Art Galleries AssistantBesides working for the most delightful boss, I got to take care of some masterpieces. My duties revolved around welcoming guests to the galleries, offering them a tour if they wished to know the details of our galleries and paintings, repairing and setting up galleries up to museum standard which we were trained for, managing inventory at times, and taking on the role of photographer at our events and symposiums. Thanks to this job I was able to be in direct contact with some Dali's, Rembrandt's and Warhol's prints, and weighed in on where some paintings would be located on campus. Show less

Knight Frank
Jun 2011 - Aug 2011Marketing AssistantAssisting Knight Frank's marketing team with projects and events, promoting Knight Frank and its objectives regarding real estates.I learned incredibly much here: from cold calling, coordinating and negotiating with sponsors, MC-ing, to actually assisting colleagues to real estate units to evaluate and produce catalogues. The Marketing department was small, so my responsibilities gradually expanded.

Vietnam National Television (VTV)
Jun 2013 - Aug 2013Editorial InternEditing VTV and Daily Biz (Business-Finance) news. Assistant to reporters. Assistant to producers during broadcasting hours (VTV News Live 15.00; VTV News 18.00; Daily Biz 22.00 every day). Even though I had been familiar with Final Cut Pro during my high school years, working on the Final Cut Pro during this internship was a different experience due to the specific format of footage. Still a love-hate relationship with Final Cut Pro.

Wesleyan College
Aug 2013 - May 2014Editor in ChiefThe Wesleyan Word is the official newspaper of Wesleyan College, GA. The paper represents the voice of Wesleyan student-body on multiple aspects. Our issues were significantly more diverse in voices and stands, which really boosted our readership. Two issues are published every semester, each allowed us to spend long nights at the lab working on the final production with InDesign and Photoshop.I was also in charge of communicating with the printer and final production of these issues in accordance with our allocated budget. UN Women
Mar 2018 - Dec 2019An exciting consultancy heavily focused on managing and coordinating 3 lines of work: - UN Women’s HIV/AIDS programme portfolio with over 10 activities (USD250k+) through community engagement and policy advocacy;- Coordinating inter-agency advocacy efforts;- Provided technical inputs and support to EVAW Prevention programme. I got to work directly with some amazing networks of queer women, PWD, and HIV young key populations who taught me some of the most important lessons on resilience and leadership. Got to give my 200% and learned a lot. A lovely end to a near two-year service at my home country for development work on gender and public health, both of which I hold dear. Proudest moments: experimental art exhibition on SRHR (internal), #HumansOfCourage series (UN Women and UNAIDS joint social media campaign), Diversity Day 2019 (sponsored by OHCHR’s UN Free & Equal global public information campaign). Show less Returned to Vietnam for a longer period of time after 10 years abroad to join a humble team at UN Women Viet Nam. As a UNV Gender Programme Officer, my work entails: - Assisted un coordinating inter-agency gender mainstreaming implementation and advocacy efforts (policy analysis, joint communications and campaigns)- Contributed to UNW advocacy work through community mobilization and policy advocacy re: Gender Affirmation Law and other international human rights mechanisms. - Provided technical support on EVAW program’s formulation and implementation, on communications strategy and reporting. - On my last day as UNV, I co-organized the first internal art-based campaign on sexuality and SRHR at the UN in Vietnam through exhibitions, interactive Q&A, and performing art.
