Overall mission of the Danish Armed Forces:"By being able to fight and win, Danish service men and women promote peaceful and democratic development in the world and a secure society in Denmark."This mission is our fundamental task and our raison d'être, to which we all make a contribution. The mission names Danish service men and women in order to emphasise the special role of the Armed Forces, and that we must all, as military personnel or civilians, contribute to the core task - that soldiers must fight and win. Fighting and winning requires us to master many different tasks and roles. We can win in battle, but we can also win "hearts and minds".The Armed Forces contribute to a safe society in Denmark by taking on and executing both national and international operations. The training structure of the Army. The Army comprises soldiers at three different levels of training - Conscripts, Soldiers on a Reaction Force Contract and Professional Combat Soldiers:Conscripts undergo the Army's basic training programme. They receive basic military training, which gives them the ability to operate in teams of approximately ten in a combat environment. Assistant Teacher/Graduate Teaching Assistant/Instructor in 'International Relations' for 45 Political Science undergraduate students (about 200 students in total) over a two-year period . I taught under the supervision of Professor Ole Wæver.I taught four full courses (7.5 ECTS each) in International Relations at the university over a 2 year period. Each of these having a curriculum consisting of about 1000 pages (4000 pages total). My classes followed the main lectures given by the professors.By teaching this wealth of material, I have greatly increased my communicative skills and my ability to message complex information in a precise and understandable manner.• Collaboration and coordination: developing the teaching material in close collaboration with professors and other TAs• Analytical skills: Introducing International Relation theories that spands across the entire spectrum of philosophies of science's and applying them to historical, and current, issues relating to IR.• Communication: dissemination of highly complex information in a clear and concisely manner. On a personal level, I've had great experiences in giving my presentations and engaging with my students.• Helping students through the writing process: Part of being a TA is to help students become more successful when they are writing their IR exam paper. I provided feedback directly to the students through the entire writing process of their paper. I furthermore encouraged drafts and peer response groups and offered writing conferences. • This IR course gives the student insight and methods for analyzing how the international system's structures and processes sets the framework for societal developments, and under which conditions actors behave in the international system. It also gives an overview of IR's central theories, concepts and policy areas that give the student tools to analyze international structures, institutions, processes and actors.(Sourced: University of Copenhagen) Show less
