      Started in May 1992 as a temp-electrician, was hired as a permanent employee in August 1992, as an in-house electrician/technician. Familiar with Fire Alarm systems, Motor controls, UPSs, VFDs, process equipment, as well as HVAC controls (Johnson Controls) in a GMP Facility. Trained other technicians in electrical and safety. Responsible for all electrical projects in the 300,000-sq.ft. facility. Emergency Response Team (ERT) participant as well as ERT steering committee member.

      Responsible for maintaining and improving an 140,000-sq.ft. Biotech Facility, in Silicon Valley. Managed the Facilities Department, did Project Management of various construction projects for the Facility, including laboratory build-outs, clean rooms and HVAC projects. Successfully managed many projects with specific time and budget constraints. Developed energy management projects that provided on going energy savings and $65,000 in PG&E rebates. Responsible for Facilities Department budget (capital and expense), as well as Facilities Preventive Maintenance contracts. Responsible for EH&S function.       Working at Varian Palo Alto Site. Contracted through Facilities First. Responsibilities include developing and managing a variety of projects for the Facilities Engineering group at Varian. These projects include electrical installations; electrical switchgear testing; roofing; energy management projects, installation of an energy efficient 400 Ton Chiller (with tower & pumps), an 800 Ton Chiller, as well as various small projects assisting manufacturing engineers.       Hired in December 2010 as the Facilities Manager for Palo Alto and Milpitas, had 10 direct reports (Electricians, Mechanics and HVAC Techs). Became Senior Facilities Manager in 2014 over Palo Alto, Milpitas and Las Vegas Campuses, around 775,000-sq.ft. total. Managed Facilities Managers and worked closely with Facilities Engineering, Real Estate and Space Planning. Responsible for Capital Budget ($15 Million), and Expense Budget ($2 Million). Responsible for 17 reports; 4 direct reports and 13 associates under them. Implemented many Energy Management Projects and headed up the Sustainability Team at Varian. Show less
