Threat Assessment: identified risks at crime scenes and take steps to mitigate these dangers before visiting scenes. Inspection: Visited and inspected crime (murder) scenes and evidence which include dead bodies, and weapons. Interviewing: Conversed and questioned murder suspects and witnesses about the crime committed or being investigated, having cautioned the murder suspects. These actions resulted in an 80% murder detection rate. Statement Writing: Collected written statements from murder suspects and witnesses, having cautioned suspects. Charge and Caution: Charged and cautioned murder suspects for offenses accused or committed. Report Writing and Case File Preparation: Prepared reports based on cases investigated and prepared case files to hand over to supervisor to hand over to the Courts. • Courtroom Presentation: presented evidence collected and preserved in murder cases investigated at the courts to secure conviction against the accused person (s). These court cases secured a 90% conviction rate and increase the crime detection rate and assisted in controlling crimes on the islands. Show less

Findings were utilized to help formulate policies for the National Security Training Academy, and to improve the quality of training. • Training and Development: Tasked to develop a training model and training plans for the NSTA. Created training plans and a Training Model called “Multi-Agency Model”. This Training Model allows the designing of the training programs to accommodate law enforcement officers from different Agencies to train in the same training program. The Training Model resulted in: (i) reducing the cost of training and the time needed to train officers and; (ii) increasing networking among officers who came from different agencies. • Budget Preparation: Created training budgets for each training Cycle which resulted in reducing the cost of training by 25%. Identified and developed policies needed for accreditation, including Health and Safety and Admission Policy. Instructed the records officer to develop a proper Records System. Worked along with the project officer to ensure that all the structural works of the Academy were completed. These efforts resulted in the Academy and its programs gaining accreditation from the National Training Agency.• Training Needs Assessment: Conducted a training needs assessment for each Law Enforcement Agencies within Trinidad, which: (i) Helped to identify the training needs of each of these Agencies and; (ii) Recommend the appropriate programs to NSTA to provide the training and skills set needed by each of these law enforcement agencies. • Monitoring and Evaluation: constantly monitoring and evaluating each of the training programs offered to ensure that it is tailed to suit and is meeting the training needs of these law enforcement officers and Agencies. • Report Preparation: Prepared quarterly reports and, Yearly reports for training and the Academy, to advise and guide management on training affairs Show less
