As an Arthur Russell Fellow in Human Rights, I was able to intern in The Hague, work for a law firm in Botswana, and study for six months in South Africa.

I helped during discovery, I organized documents, I prepared motions and responses, and I met with the client alongside an attorney. The law firm is situated in Gaborone, Botswana, so, despite some basic similarities, I had to adapt to a different legal system and a different set of laws. I also communicated with the TIP Report Heroes, ran a twitter account, and helped to connect the Heroes and to provide whatever assistance I could.

I worked specifically on helping people apply for asylum, helping people apply for permanent residency ("green cards") or naturalization, helping people apply for family members overseas, and helping people with other miscellaneous forms of immigration relief.
