  HTTP uses Web-services middleware to connect multiple points-of-sale (Subscribers including Websites, Master Databases, Desktop Applications for Travel Agents, Etc.) to Suppliers wishing to sell surplus inventory including Air, Hotel Rooms, Car Rentals, Package Tours, Event Tickets, etc.) As the travel industry becomes less dependent on a centralized location and more dependent on today's technologies, the problem of standardizing the distribution of inventory (such as flights, hotel rooms, vacation packages, event tickets, etc.) without the traditional GDS model of exorbitant fees and red tape will increasingly become the industry's greatest hurdle. Travel inventory vendors ("Owner/Operators") are looking for ways to increase profitability and reach by expanding their distribution channels without dramatically increasing the cost associated with this expansion or the time and personnel requirements needed to do so. Retailers ("Agents") of travel inventory, either online or through traditional channels, are looking for an expanded menu of inventory options with higher margins and richer content without incurring the overhead needed to build and maintain these relationships. HTTP is designed to address these issues in a way to provide minimal implementation time and maximum benefit to both the "Owner/Operators" and "Agents" of travel-related inventory. HTTP is an internet-based, Web services solution allowing for a real-time standardized communication between "suppliers" and "subscribers" to exchange information including travel inventory price, availability, purchase transactions, and customer service functions (i.e. cancel, change, etc.) of any type of travel inventory including, but not limited to: hotels, resorts, air, car rental, vacation rentals, packages, show tickets, attractions, and more.
