I aided the copy editor in editing stories turned in by the reporters and preparing them for publishing in the University of Southern Mississippi yearbook.I also wrote stories for the yearbook when needed.

      ABMC Understanding Sacrifice American Battle Monuments Commission Jul 2016 I was a part of a year-long institute run by the American Battle Monuments Commission that saw participants select a fallen soldier from their state that died in the Mediterranean theater of World War II. We researched that soldier and created a lesson plan and eulogy to our soldiers. We then spent two weeks in the Mediterranean, studying the events and visiting the locations of our chosen soldiers.

Behring Outstanding National History Day Teacher for Mississippi National History Day Mar 2015 I was awarded this for my contributions to the National History Day program at both McComb High School as well as the state of Mississippi, including strengthening the program statewide and trying to increase participation at the state contest.

      Albert Small Sacrificing Freedom Normandy Institute National History Day Jan 2015 I was selected to travel to Normandy, France with a student and 14 other student/teacher teams from the United States and Guam. We will intensely study both WWII and a soldier from our state that died on D-Day.

      Patricia A. Behring Teacher Ambassador National History Day Feb 2014 Over 400 applicants were eligible to receive this ambassador position and I was one of only forty selected. I will attend a summer training in August 2014 in Denver, CO. I will then complete a project to promote National History Day in Mississippi.

      STAR Teacher Mississippi Economic Council Feb 2014 Every year, the Mississippi Economic Council chooses a STAR student (highest ACT score in the school) from each high school in Mississippi that has a qualifying senior. That student then gets to choose a STAR teacher who they feel was integral in their success. McComb's STAR student for 2013-2014 chose me for that honor.
