  While working as a tour guide for the WHEC, I gave hour-long group and private maternity tours to answer questions about the hospital and what to expect when mothers arrive to have their babies. I also gave presentations on the Ready, Set, Baby booklet which includes information on the importance of skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, and more. I volunteered every week sitting at the front desk, making folders for classes, and doing research for the monthly health display.

  I led volunteer shifts of around 10 people at TABLE At TABLE, I helped create Food for Thought nutrition education worksheets for children and helped collect and organize donations. I also led several volunteer shifts that included sorting food and packaging weekend meal bags. I also helped organize a focus group to determine how TABLE’s menu and delivery methods could be improved.

  Responsible for recruiting, communicating and obtaining feedback from current PhD students I collaborated with a team to create educational, public health related activities for GlobeMed’s fundraising events.   Public Health 3.0 Intern

  While working with Cabarrus Health Alliance, I researched policy options to address the greatest health needs in Cabarrus County, including physical inactivity and adult obesity. I met weekly with the Public Health Director to discuss my research and present my policy findings. I also met monthly with the CHA Public Health 3.0 team to discuss the implementation of the CDC’s 3.0 guidelines in Cabarrus County.

  Research Assistant

  While working with the SUDDEN Project team, I performed chart abstractions in EPIC using the REDCap database for multiple projects studying cause of sudden death in Wake County, NC. I also worked closely with one researcher who was studying the correlation between incarceration and sudden death and helped write her abstract for publication.

  Child Development Intern

  At NCDHHS, I have helped develop vaccination guidance sheets, conduct state level policy scans, and create policy memos for meetings. I have also been working closely with the Division of Child and Family Well-Being to develop an NC Child Wellness Dashboard. For this project, I have conducted literature reviews to recommend which metrics to include and created a large database of dashboards from other states to reference.
