      The main aspect of my duties as a senior analyst in Treasury and Finance, involved the provision of advice to Cabinet regarding the various Cabinet Submissions from government departments and statutory authorities. More specifically, my duties included: - providing accurate, relevant and timely advice to the Treasurer and Cabinet regarding policy merits and impacts arising from Cabinet submissions and bilateral measures and regulatory proposals submitted by DPTI- contributing with the budget negotiation processes regarding various funding requests from various departments - monitoring of the capital and operating budgets of the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DPTI) and the provision of a written report to executive, on the performance of the portfolio against agreed targets - providing advice to key officers from DPTI on Treasurer’s Instructions; Cabinet procedures; Public Works Committee requirements; State Procurement Board guidelines and other relevant government reporting frameworks- providing advice to the Treasurer and Cabinet on the economic viability of a number of capital projects undertaken by DPTI- undertaking financial reviews of the economic viability of a number of capital projects undertaken by government departments Show less

      The primary aspect of my role as a Senior Advisor was the provision of accurate and timely advice to Ministers, Executives and Treasury regarding policy, budgetary and financial matters arising from the Justice agencies assigned to my supervision. More specifically, my duties involved the following: - developing and maintaining strategic relationships with Portfolio Executive Directors, central agencies and other key stakeholders, both internal and external to the Portfolio- providing specialist advice, analysis and assistance relating to policy development and legislation to the various agencies comprising the Justice Portfolio- coordinating a number of regulatory processes to ensure compliance with Government’s objectives;- providing advice on funding proposals to ensure they are consistent with Government and Portfolio objectives, including checking that they meet legislative requirements and government policies- managing quality control processes to ensure that agencies and statutory authorities in the Portfolio presented information to the Ministers and DTF in a consistent manner- providing advice regarding the development of business cases and the identification of funding options for public sector initiatives- providing advice to Justice agencies regarding bilateral measures, cabinet submissions, legislative requirements; government frameworks - reviewing and providing advice regarding Commonwealth agreements for the provision of emergency assistance to South Australia.       Manager, Strategic Budgets

      As the Manager of Strategic Finance, I was responsible for ensuring the timely preparation of agency statements, budget measures and formulation of a departmental budget strategy. Effective delivery of such duties required a strong understanding of departmental operations, treasury processes including State’s fiscal targets. Furthermore, I was responsible for ensuring the provision of accurate, relevant and timely financial advice to executive on impacts arising from various operating and capital initiatives, budget measures and Cabinet submissions for DPTI. For example, as part of the development of the development of project priorities under the National Partnership Agreement (NPA), I would provide critical advice on the financial inter-dependencies with the Federal Government as well as the most appropriate manner to present an economically viable proposal.My main achievement as the Manager of Strategic Finance (Treasury Budgets), was the leading of the team through the delivery of agency statements and budget strategy during a newly elected government. The change in government resulted in a number of policy changes for DPTI requiring the redesign of the budget strategy to position the department on a solid and reliable financial platform that would enable the delivery of new initiatives whilst agreed saving targets set by the State's Cabinet.
