    • Ocean Drilling Program

      Apr 1988 - Sept 1988
      Co-Chief Scientist

Unpaid leave of absence from Petro Canada; Jointly led a team of 27 scientists from 9 countries. We recovered 1.8 km of core from water depths of 1-3 km. Scientific results include confirming the theoretically derived model for passive rifting at Broken Ridge, recovering an exceptional Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary sequence, redefining the model for the formation of the Ninetyeast Ridge, and providing new evidence for an earlier collision of India and Asia than had previously been accepted.

GEDCO has worked with a wide range of clients on projects in all parts of Canada; Africa and the Middle East. GEDCO personnel have extensive interpretational experience. GEDCO specializes in planning and interpreting 3D seismic surveys (land and OBC) for both oil and mining applications, high resolution aeromagnetic and airborne gravity surveys, and integrating seismic data with gravity and magnetics data. The Software Division of GEDCO sells OMNI software for 3D seismic survey design, including VSP design and modelling, as well as VISTA, a complete 2D and 3D processing system for the PC.A full description of our services is available on our home; Specialty skills include:Interpretation of gravity and magnetics data, operating as a Fugro-LCT Technology Centre. The exceptional capability of this software has enabled us to become the recognized authority in Canada for interpretation of high resolution aeromagnetic data for mapping intra-sedimentary faulting patterns. We use MAGPROBE* for magnetic depth analysis and LCTSEIS* and our own MaFIC software to interpret seismic and magnetic and gravity data simultaneously.GEDCO has an extensive library of multi-client HRAM surveys in western Canada, complete with integrated interpretations of the merged survey database. GEDCO has multi-client airborne gravity surveys available in Western Canada, as well as an extensive library of ground gravity data in the Alberta and B.C. Foothills, the Mackenzie Delta, and in Colville Hills (NWT).GEDCO also acts as a broker for several oil and mining companies for their potential field data.Basin analysis.Planning and design of airborne gravity and/or high resolution aeromagnetic surveys and 3D seismic programs.Seismic characterization of unconsolidated sediments for geotechnical planning.
