My main area of practice is in travel litigation proceeding on the fast and multi-tracks. I have gained significant experience in dealing with road traffic accidents occurring in Europe, including in claims for hire / loss of use and fatal accidents. In addition, I have experience of dealing with package tour claims, holiday sickness claims and public liability claims with a foreign element. Aside from claims with an injury element, I have also acted for and against air carriers in claims pursuant to Regulation (EC) 261/2004 and under the Montreal Convention. In practice, I have gained significant experience of advising on a range of jurisdictional and choice of law issues. This has included advising insurers and their representatives on issues such as challenges to jurisdiction and what law is likely to apply to claims. I have worked closely with clients to assist in bringing and defending proceedings arising from accidents abroad, including giving advice on insurance issues, particularly policy coverage.I have been called upon by various clients to advise on the impact of Brexit on travel litigation. I first wrote on this issue in an article on LinkedIn in the immediate aftermath of the now infamous referendum. This advice has included strategic advice. I have acted across a full range of domestic personal injury claims, including motor, employers’ and public liability claims. I particularly enjoy dealing with difficult causation issues and have acted on several difficult cases involving significant degenerative conditions and chronic pain. I have gained significant experience in advising on issues relating to evidence, merits, tactics, liability and quantum as well as advising on costs issues arising from personal injury litigation. My experience of drafting pleadings in travel litigation and general personal injury litigation is extensive.I am happy to provide informal advice where necessary.
