  The project included the installation of all stormwater, sewer, watermain and duct services and the construction of the roads within the new phase of the village including earthworks to the roads and house plots. Work included the supply of all services to the new shopping centre, stormwater, sewerage, watermains and ducts. We also built all the roads and parking areas around the shopping centre.

  Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Reconstruction of Main Road 174 – Durbanville

  The project consisted of the reconstruction of 14km of road, sub-soil drains, concrete lined side drains and stormwater pipe work, traffic management and construction of bypasses.

  Crossrail is currently the biggest construction project in Europe and consists of various new tunnels being bored under London and new stations being built for a new East / West rail connection.I was responsible for the underpinning of an existing Grade 2 listed bridge which forms part of the famous Smithfield meat market in Farringdon. The bridge required protection due to 3 main construction activities taking place namely: a new ticket hall being constructed adjacent to the bridge, the TBM passing under the bridge and an escalator shaft passing within 3 meters of the foundation of the bridge. This element of work was delivered savely on time and on budget. Show less BAM Nuttall have been awarded a sub-contract for the design and construction of a new Bulk Supply Point (BSP) and associated new electrical distribution cabling as part of the London Underground Sub-Surface Railway Power Upgrade. The Power Upgrade is aimed at delivering an enhanced electrical supply in preparation for the introduction of new S-stock trains. The contract includes installation of fibre (19 640m), 11KV (18 500m) and 22Kv (36 640m) cabling from the new BSP via existing trackside cable routes to remote substation locations and the decommissioning and removal of 58,790m of existing 11kv/22kv lead sheathed nitrogen gas filled cables from site. Show less The original works package included the demolition of existing science buildings at NPL (National Physics Laboratories). The site has been occupied since the early 1900’s developed with a number of laboratory buildings. The contract was for the demolition of the old laboratory buildings and ground remediation. Due to the nature of work carried out in the buildings and their age there were various issues to deal with during demolition. This included radiological contamination in the building structures and surrounding ground and also asbestos used as insulation. Levels of contamination differed from Very Low Level Waste to Hazardous waste which required specialist removal and Environment Agency permission to firstly accumulate and then dispose of waste via appropriate routes. Various additional works packages were added to the contract which included car parks, access roads and drainage in the areas where buildings were demolished. Show less
