    • To Build a Fire

      Jan 2005 - Jan 2006
      Producer/ Director of Photography

This was a short film based on Jack London's "To Build a Fire". It is set in the Yukon, and follows an arrogant man and his dog, through the treacherous cold of the Canadian northwest, in pursuit of gold, but turns into a struggle for survival... to build a fire. It's a great story, and we had a great crew, and a lot of fun. It was some of the most demanding filming I've done, in some of the most difficult locations, but the visuals were worth it.

    • Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design

      Jan 2005 - Jun 2009
      Instructor

I developed and taught a senior level Advanced 2D/3D Compositing for Animation Course, which was a required course for animation students. The class focused on advanced composting techniques, compositing live action elements into 3D compositing environments, primarily using Combustion and Maya. The students already had compositing and animation experience, so we focused on much more complex compositing scenarios, utilizing camera tracking, and much more advanced techniques than just traditional compositing in one application, instead creating composites in Combustion, and mapping those composites onto objects in Maya, matching virtual camera moves with physical camera moves, creating interactive layered composites within Maya projects.
