  Cook Research Incorporated has the operational mission to support Cook Medical in the identification, development, testing, and regulatory approval of innovative medical products. During this co-op, I worked on a variety of testing including: tensile, torque, fatigue, ultrasound, pressure and burst, flow, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dimensional, radial force, aging, deployment, and particulate. I managed inventory, communicated with vendors, and placed part orders for all co-op projects.Some of my long-term projects include the following: • The development of a fatigue to fracture testing method for stents of differing material where I was able to build a Coffin-Mason fatigue model for regulatory submission• Quantification with DSC of the austenite finish temperature of nitinol baskets, cannulas, and the glass transition temperature of silicone stents to determine and investigate manufacturing changes • Aging of ureteral stents over 6 month accelerated, 6 month, and 1 year long soaks for iterative testing• Creation, maintenance, and process improvement of a flow loop for the encrustation of ureteral stents deployed in a model where differences were investigated between 4 different stent types Show less
