  Boundless magazine is a subscription-only magazine, published by CSMA (the Civil Service Motoring Association) and sent out to 270,000 civil servants, six times a year. The content is a mix of motoring, travel, lifestyle and Boundless news. A fairly small team work on the magazine, so my role as Chief Sub Editor can be quite fluid. These are my main responsibilities:• Manage copy flow, edit and fact check. Liaise with the Commissioning Editor to ensure that all copy arrives at start or our printing schedule and it fulfils the brief. Sub edit all copy and work with art desk and picture editor to turn the words into features and pages. • Manage work flow of two Sub Editors. In the middle phase of the publishing cycle, I oversee the work of our freelance Sub Editors, making sure the pages are the best they can be, before passing them over to the Editor for his comments.• Secure final sign-offs on pages. Ahead of the pages going to the printers, I am responsible for getting all ‘stakeholders’ to sign off. This requires liaising with different departments within CSMA Club and many of our partners outside the company.• Deputise for the Editor. The Editor works 12 days per month, so in his absence I ensure everything keeps on track, managing the team when necessary.• Write travel features and Review section. I aim to write a minimum of four travel features a year; going on press trips or organising trips to a destination independently. Destinations I’ve written about include Lapland, Malaysia, Athens, Cape Cod and Maritime Canada. I also edit and write our eight-page Review section, covering culture.• Contribute to the Boundless website. I write news/travel/lifestyle features for our website. When I travel, I keep up our social media presence with regular tweets and Facebook updates. • Contribute to local radio. I also do regular travel slots to help raise the profile of the magazine.• Write hotel reviews, freelance features and blogs. Show less

  This role saw me joining the business desk of the Khmer Times. I was responsible for editing non-native English reporters' copy and turning them into readable stories for English readers of the newspaper. I also edited copy on supplements including Good Times 2 and Youth Today.
