  The Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a short-term internship offered to a selected few outstanding aspiring medical students before beginning their Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) course. I was attached to the Brain Research Institute Monash Sunway (BRIMS) – an internationally recognised platform of neuroscience research. There, I worked on a medical research project that used mice models to identify how the Mbp gene expression varies with social isolation.From being surrounded by cutting-edge technology to being mentored by renowned scientists, this experience taught me much and exposed me to the interesting world of medical research.
