    • Vip Liquors

      Jan 2010 - Jul 2020

To work with National Key Accounts within South Africa and neighboring African Countries to develop further demand for VIP Liquors brands and expand within the local markets. To Approach and develop relations with new product partners in the Liquor Industry, further expand and develop the Distribution platform of the company into Africa.Manage and expand nation operations framework to efficiently import and distribute lines locally and into Africa. Manage and expand distribution solutions for VIP Liquors Brands within key retail accounts into Africa. Implement strategy at top down & bottom up levels within national retail chains to build brand demand and scale distributed volumes exponentially. Primary responsibilities include senior management of:- Sales & brand development with National Key Accounts, - International logistics & operations.- Business development within export markets, - Import and exports of all sku's - Supply chain development, - Develop brand strategies within national on con and off con chains. Show less I joined as Co-Founder to build VIP from the ground up for 10 years. We went from importing 1 liquor brand and supplying 1 store through to supplying 5 ranges from various manufacturers globally to all major retailers in South Africa and into Africa ( Approximately 5000 outlets (retailers & restaurants), 10 major chains, 8 countries. Our Staff component grew from 2 to 20 under my management covering responsibilities including Key Accounts, Operations management, Imports & Exports, Logistics, Sales, marketing and brand development. There were 3 primary components to my roles and responsibility at VIP Liquors:Logistics:The expansion and management of the full logistics process from foreign suppliers to local retailers. I developed the systems and supply chain required to transit 40ft containers from origin to South Africa, through customs and and other regulatory bodies at the border. Once cleared from our bonded facilities to rework the product to comply with regulation and distribute as breakbulk Nationally to all retailers. Key Accounts:Working closely with the sales team to develop and present brand growth strategies to be implemented with national retail and restaurant chains. Moving product from origin to client is in my opinion only part of the supply chain process. To ensure a constant flow of resources through the chain we require mechanisms to motivate consumers on a mass scale to subsequently remove the product from the shelf and add it to their basket. My job to Motivate and negotiate the listing of our brands within major retailers, then ensure they sell.Exports Manager:Once we had a strong foothold in South Africa I begun our expanding our footprint into the African market. Countries included: Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya and Mozambique. I was responsible to develop partnerships in each region to introduce, distribute and build all of out brands within the local markets. Show less
