      Activities and Societies: 1st yr - Secretary of Student Council 2nd yr - President of Student Council Start of my public speaking experience - 1st one was at the Lions Club (that was nerve-wacking! but I did very well) Goodwill ambassador to visitors and new students Public awareness activities Few projects I got the students involved in:1) Paper placemats for local McDonalds restaurant about Deaf people and culture. Received with great interest by the public.2) Approached the City Hall and won the right to develop a previously muddy pathway for the students to walk to the Deaf schools. The City Hall ended up sharing the cost of development. 3) Written proposals to fund events

      Activities and Societies: I'm a classic example of a unsupported mainstreamed disabled student. I was 1 of 3 'handicapped' students out of 1, 500. It was not a positive experience, I'm sorry to say. Was unable to self-advocate and educate the teachers and staff of the school to be more equitable. Grade 9 - 12, academic level.

      Provided administrative assistance to Sr. Clerk, Initiated and processed purchases of operational and capital items, Processed travel claims of 30+ employees, Overseen the 2.8 mil budget yearly, Assisted Sr Clerk with annual financial reports, And many other things. Did a secondment of 4 months as a receptionist - compromised with 24 other employees by them taking over telephone duties, while I do their filing and typing in return - worked out VERY well.One shining moment - advocated, reported, and ended the abuse of a hard-of-hearing employee by her supervisor.
