      Sept 2013 - May 2014
      Geophysics Researcher

Processed and interpreted various geophysical data sets to detect anomalies and trends, and presented the results and recommendations to the principal researcher.

    • DUG

      Jun 2014 - Sept 2015
      Geophysicist (Data Processor Responsibilities)

Geophysicist tasked with seismic data processing, preparing client presentations, creating analysis reports, and loading all data sets used by the office. Specific details follow:• Performed spectral (data) analyses and filtered false-event reflections from Polarcus seismic marine data using DUG Insight to better resolve signals from oil and gas prospects.• Modeled and removed diffraction effects and other noise from seismic data using Flatirons and DUG Insight to increase signal to noise ratios.• Wrote Bash scripts (on a LINUX platform) to reformat, resample, rebin, and unit-convert big (1 to 10 TB) structured and unstructured marine and land seismic data sets.• Prepared client presentations with analysis reports and insights on various projects for the North American Geosciences Manager Show less

    • University of Houston

      Oct 2015 - Nov 2018
      Research Scientist

Provided general research technical support for the Geophysics Department. Also, responsible for investigating of the evolution of the Walvis Ridge and Rio Grande Rise South Atlantic seamount chains. • Used bathymetry and gravity data (derived from satellite altimetry data from the Cryosat 1 and Jason climatology missions) to map tectonic seafloor features in the South Atlantic with a level of precision previously not achieved.• Combined this tectonic map with gravity and magnetic isochron (crustal age) data to create a series of high-resolution tectonic-magnetic gravity maps in 0.5-million-year increments.• Integrated these maps into a movie that provided further insight into the evolution of the Rio Grande Rise (offshore Brazil/Uruguay) and Walvis Ridge (offshore Namibia) seamount chains, including detecting new seafloor anomalies and a previously unknown microplate.• Published the results of this research in multiple papers (see Publication section) Show less

    • Fugro

      Dec 2018 - Dec 2020
      Staff Geoscientist

Offshore Wind Development: Lead geoscientist working with client representatives and shipboard scientific crew in offshore Rhode Island, Delaware and New Jersey on offshore wind survey campaigns. • Analyzed site conditions, especially shallow geology to 100 m below seabed, in the Atlantic coastal areas off of Rhode Island, Delaware and New Jersey • QA/QC’d collected data during operations in cooperation with Global Mapper, Kingdom and ArcGIS • Gained extensive experience with seismic surveying for shallow geological characterization • Organized and participated in weekly progress meetings with the client representative and Fugro staff • Prepared workflow guides for handover to other shipboard geoscientists • Reviewed all data and disclosed final deliverables (for example reports and geotechnical data) to client • Controlled documents, e.g. managed all documents of geotechnical campaign • Operating within relevant BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) guidelinesHydrocarbon Exploration: Geoscientist working with shipboard scientific crew on offshore deployments in Brazil and Malaysia to detect hydrocarbon seeps. • Coordinated with client representative, survey department and ship operations to accurately complete line plans and collect multibeam (bathymetry, backscatter, water bottom) data and seismic data • Processed survey data using ArcGIS (routines and scripts) and the QPS software suite (Fledermaus, Qimera) to create interpretation deliverables for client as specified by contract • Interpreted geological features and hydrocarbon potential from processed survey data (bathymetry, backscatter, water column, sub-bottom, and CPT and XBT sounding logs) • Used Kingdom for the subsurface geological interpretation of sub-bottom data to detect potential hydrocarbon traps, fault (migration) conduits, core targets, etc. • Proficient in the use of ArcGIS for presentations, final client reports, and interpretation purposes Show less

    • Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey, Inc.

      Jan 2021 - Jun 2022
      Geophysicist

Key geophysicist collaborating with shipboard scientific crew and client representatives in offshore New York and Massachusetts on wind farming survey campaigns. Primary responsibilities included: • Performing timely quality assurance and quality control checks throughout the data acquisition process• Reviewing and enforcing technical requirements of project plans• Evaluating all data to ensure project objectives have been completed.• Compiling and delivering final deliverables to client• Writing comprehensive project operations reports• Training survey personnel• Processing seismic, side scan, and magnetic data using RadEx Pro, SonarWiz and Oasis Montaj respectively.• Analyzing side scan and magnetic anomaly data to identify geohazards.• Acquiring side scan, magnetic, and seismic data using EdgeTech Discover, Geometrics MagLog and Innomar SESWIN respectively.• Observing all health, safety, and environmental regulations while on board geophysical survey vessels.
