  It was an exciting journey to be technically responsible for coal processing plant. I successfully developed asset maintenance strategies for conveyors belts, centrifuges, screens, filtration systems ( filters and thickeners) and pumps. I was appointed as project leader for the total shutdown for the first time, among other projects executed during this shutdown were launder replacement, thickener rakes replacement, 42" underground line replacement, coal bunkers repairs, tripper cars and conveyor belt replacement. This shutdown was completed within schedule, budget and exceptional integrity. In the same year I was also nominated as the best technician for Gas production and awarded the best shutdown of the year for the business unit. Show less This was my first appointment at Sasol at Market Process Integration Business unit, the only technician responsible for over 10 000 process pipelines at a time for both East and West Sasol Synfuels facility. Among other projects executed during this period were:1. MP and HP steam header replacement project.2. The replacement of the 78" ammonia line.3. Hot tap of instruments air line to Oxygen plant.4.   As a maintenance line manager at Kendal power station, I was responsible for water treatment plant and auxiliary plants which included auxiliary cooling system plants, Fuel oil plant, cross over plant, clean and dirty plant and firewater system for the power station.My duties and responsibilities during this period were:• Develop and control divisional maintenance budget.• Ensure exceptional workmanship.• Ensure execution of work as per production and operations requirements.• Accountable for health and safety of all employees.• Accountable for training and development of the employees.• Accountable for making sure that spares are available for maintenance and follow up with service providers thereof.• Accountable to maintain good relationship with all stakeholders (operations, productions, procurement, engineering, works management, finance and human resources).Achievements and challenges:• It was indeed not easy to challenge the status core, but with determination and consistency a lot was achieved in this short period of time.• I managed to re-energize and bring purpose to the maintenance, operation and production teams.The following recovery projects were initiated and some executed using urgent procurement process.1. Initiated and drove the Kendal Water Treatment Plant refurbishment project to NEC level.7. Developed the first draft of maintenance budget for FY23.8.
