  1000 MW coal and gas fired power station consisting of 4 x 250 MW boiler & turbine units.Plant Operators were responsible for the operation and monitoring of boiler, turbine, electrical, and auxiliary plant.From 1988 on I performed Unit Operator duties having charge of a 250 MW generating unit. Trainees served a 4 year Cadetship and received training in all aspects of thermal power station operation. Trainees were exposed to plant commissioning activities over a 2 year period as construction of the station progressed.

  Operations Engineer

  240 MW gas and diesel fired CCGT station located in North Lincolnshire, England.Operations Engineers lead and organise the shift team. They were responsible for ensuring that the plant is operated in accordance with the site environmental and generating licences. As Senior Authorised Persons, Operations Engineers control and authorise all work undertaken on site, and are the interface between the National Grid Operator, Traders, and External Agencies.During construction of the plant Operations Engineers drafted Standing Instructions and Procedures, carried out health & safety and environmental risk assessments and gap training for the plant operators.   Generation Controller

  400 MW gas fired CCGT station located in Auckland. Generation Controllers were responsible for the safe and economic operation of Otahuhu Power Station, and open cycle gas turbine units located at Whirinaki in Hawkes Bay and Oakey in Queensland, Australia. As Senior Authorised Persons, Generation Controllers control and authorise all work undertaken on site in accordance with Contact Energy’s safety rules and work control documentation.In my role as Generation Controller I provided engineering and maintenance support including contractor and project supervision, engineering analysis, plant improvement proposals, accident / incident investigation and environmental reporting.
