  Activities and Societies: House Captain, Somerville House, 2008-2010 In my 5th and 6th year of secondary school at Eastbank Academy, I was elected to be the House Captain of Somerville house. This honour presented responsibilities for me. This included attending meetings with other House Captains and the various head teachers of my school to talk about matters regarding the whole school. I was also required to attend monthly House meetings with my pastoral care teacher and other representatives of my House from each year group about domestic House matters. In… Show more In my 5th and 6th year of secondary school at Eastbank Academy, I was elected to be the House Captain of Somerville house. This honour presented responsibilities for me. This included attending meetings with other House Captains and the various head teachers of my school to talk about matters regarding the whole school. I was also required to attend monthly House meetings with my pastoral care teacher and other representatives of my House from each year group about domestic House matters. In these circumstances, I was required to chair the meetings under supervision from my pastoral care teacher and occasionally write the minutes. My role as House Captain taught me effective communication skills, teamwork, confidence, versatility and leadership skills. Show less
