      Senior CAD Designer

Facility Expansion of Wyeth Biopharma, St. Louis, MO. Laboratory alterations related to expansion. This was an architectural design contract assignment and ended.

    • HDR Architects

      Jun 2003 - Jan 2005
      Office Interiors CAD-BIM Designer

This was an unusual assignment as HDR was subcontract to Hensel Phelps constructors. I was on a team for Penren, Pentagon Renovation project, Wedges 2-5 Rings A-E and basement / mezzanine interior upfit in a secure suite in Alexandria VA. I also worked several weeks at Bentley offices in Reston VA creating a BIM model of the Pentagon basement and mezzanine using and learning Bentley Suite, their latest BIM software. Using blueprints from the original 40’s construction I modeled the existing shell and using new PenRen plans I added the as-built interior and new mezzanine. The Pentagon renovation included some very unique design features including SmartWalls and raised flooring providing a modular and reconfigurable interior. And “the tank”, a completely self contained 1” thick steel structure with a continuous annular space providing separation and inspection between it and the surrounding structure for continuing Pentagon broadcast operations in event of a disaster. I toured “the tank” just prior to its detailed commissioning. I also worked on conceptual planning and detailing of RPG (rocket propelled grenade) fencing for the “yellow brick road” in IRAQ supporting troup passage safety for occupation. This was a contract assignment and ended. See more info about PenRen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentagon_Renovation_Program Exibir menos

      Jan 2005 - Mar 2009
      Sr Civil Structural Architectural Designer

ITAC provides engineering and design services to industrial clients. I worked on many alterations and additions with a multitude of purposes and varied scopes providing solutions to needs in support of process changes and employee satisfaction for Philip Morris and other industrial clients. I designed and detailed projects including layout, building systems mechanical, reflected plan coordinations, casework and furnishings, domestic and laboratory piping. For the Dominion Flue Gas Desulferization project I provided space planning through construction support of a Services Building including control room, QA lab, offices, shop, and employee amenities. The Great Recession led to multiple layoffs, myself included. Exibir menos

    • EBA Ernest Bland Associates, P. C.

      Nov 2010 - Jan 2016
      Architectural Engineering Technologist

▮The Veterans Health Administration is the largest integrated health care system and includes 1,053 outpatient sites of varying complexity. I was contributor on an IDIQ architectural engineering contract providing CAD, COBIE, BIM and other related services and documentation. I contributed content for a web published document, Design Guide of CLC (Community Living Centers). Using Revit and working with an architect I produced designs for many LBOC’s (Lease-Based Outpatient Clinics), averaging USD 64 million each and complying with GSA, DoD MHS, VA, state, local standards and site specific constraints. I published Revit graphics and data in VHA SFO’s (Solicitation For Offers) document format including outline specifications, detailed takeoffs, and plans for many clinics of varying complexity. I performed field surveys to author a Non-structural seismic assessment report for the VA hospital campus in Spokane, WA. I co-authored construction Documents for a Mental Health Clinic Unit, USD 8.3 million, hospital campus addition. ▮At EBA I developed Revit families, Revit schedules, coordinated proprietary Revit parameters and much more that became office workflow standards. My work for other clients included field surveys of all ▮MDtA Toll Facilities structures to document the construction, assess the maintenance condition and write site specific Facility Maintenance manuals based on specific life expectancy of varied systems and components including frequency. Of particular interest was one tunnel ventilation building constructed during the cold war that included a labyrinth of underground chambers and passages leading to a fallout shelter. No plans existed of its entirety and I created a BIM model of the mysterious structure in Revit from my field surveys. Lack of work led to my being laid off. Exibir menos

    • CannonDesign

      Jul 2013 - Jan 2016
      Architectural Engineering Technologist

As an employee of EBA Ernest Bland Associates, P. C. at CannonDesign in their offices I worked on two major Higher Education projects.▮UMD College Park -The New Cole Field House, USD 155 million, is a project of alterations to provide a B1G Indoor Football Practice Facility and additions including a Performance and Innovation Center with to an historic stadium structure. Using Room Data Sheets (RDS) I compiled the project programming in Revit assigning HEGIS codes (Higher Education), FICM (Inventory and Classification), other requirements, equipment, and criteria for areas and rooms. I wrote BIM schedules with formulas to track and report that the model reflected the project program, space ratios, and flagged any differences between the model and program. I also contributed as a team member to the design, detailing and construction documents. ▮Towson U New Science Facility, USD 184 million, is to provide science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to all students attending Towson U. I was a contributing team member on the Concept and Designs (SD, DD) at CannonDesign. I was responsible for dRofus database administration with Revit synchronization on the project allowing a two-way interface between the project program database and Revit data. This position was contract and ended. Exibir menos

    • HCL Engineering & Surveying, LLC

      Jan 2016 - Jan 2017
      BIM Technician

The Purple Line is a 16 mile light-rail transit system. It's a public-private project with an estimated final cost of USD 2.65 billion. 22 stations are proposed to be constructed between Bethesda MD, Montgomery County and New Carrollton Station, Prince Georges County Maryland. I contributed to the design of the stations, site work and auxiliary structures on a team. Using AutoDesk Building Design Suite 2016; mainly Revit, working with Architects and Engineers, I developed BIM models, components, and families. I attached data to the model for a level of detail consistent with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). I created Revit Topography for inclusion in the project files from 3D Bentley .dgn file contours authored by the civil rail team. I was one of 3 contributors on site with HCL Engineers & Surveyors LLC, Denver CO. HCL had 3 contributors in Denver and 1 in Portland. Other companies were also contract on site including Atkins Global and IronHorse Architects. The workflow between applications in use by the various teams was complex and complicated by document management in Bentley's ProjectWise. HCL had 2 contributors in Denver and 1 in Portland; weekly uploads and PDFs on BlueBeam Revu were used for collaboration. I was instrumental in HCL's implementation of BIM 360 Team allowing cloud based collaboration to improve the workflow considerably. The Purple Line project has been plagued with opposition and resulting delayed funding and construction leading to layoffs including myself. Exibir menos
