      Apr 1990 - now

Following on from my role as the Regional Manager in Western Cape, I relocated back to my home town Port Elizabeth. Apart from continuing my journey as a Regional Manager in Aftersales, I also became part of an important project team responsible. to build digital systems and processes in the workshop. The opportunity to develop a skill in this challenging environment allowed interaction with smaller teams in other markets. We were responsible to build bespoke solutions for the South Africa market. Show less I was promoted to a Production Team Leader and this was at supervisory level. The role included assignments and responsibilities in the production environment focusing on quality; vehicle production and team leadership. It included on-site training of new production employees and skill development. As part of these responsibilities, I regularly attended middle management meetings on quality and production. Part of the skill development at the time was to be able to converse with management and staff in more senior positions in the company. Show less I started my career at Volkswagen in April 1990 in the production division working on and building the iconic brand vehicles I grew up admiring. My development in the production and body shop division at the Volkswagen plant in Uitenhage was supported by great leadership, inspiring me to work towards my goals. Under these influencial managers I was able to grow confidently into the role of a team leader from 1994. This was a highly charged time in my life as I tried to find my path at Volkswagen and the opportunity to invest into my career aprirations Show less
