      African International Tax Services Leader

      I was the Africa International Tax Services Leader and a senior partner within the EY Africa Tax leadership team for seven and a half years. Where I not only had the privilege of leading one of the top international tax teams in Africa but also being involved in many key strategic initiatives for the firm.My primary role, was that of the Africa International Tax Services (ITS) Leader. ITS included specialists in corporate international tax and transfer pricing. In this role I was responsible for building and expanding EY’s International Tax specialisation in Africa and in so doing helped execute EY’s regional and global strategy. The team consisted of approximately 70 people specialising in international tax in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Mauritius and Cameroon. We also had Africa tax desks in London and New York. In my client facing role, I was involved in advising many of EY’s multinational clients on the tax implications of their investments and operations in Africa including on permanent establishments, tax residency, treasury, operating model effectiveness, transfer pricing, acquisitions and disposals etc. This has included tax advice in relation to inbound, through-bound and out-bound investment in Africa. Additional leadership roles fulfilled during my time at EY include - deputy tax leader, Africa Transaction Tax Leader, Africa transfer pricing leader, Tax Diversity and Inclusiveness committee chair, Digital tax leader, Massmart tax account leader.I was responsible for developing the theme for the EY Africa Tax Conference, as well as selecting speakers and content for the conference.
