  Selected to join a national teacher corps of recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in under-resourced public schools. Taught in a summer school program run by TFA under the supervision of experienced teachers. Engaged in a full schedule of professional development activities, including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, individual and group reflections, readings, and ‘learning teams’ specific to my teaching license area.

  Taught 7th and 8th grade Integrated Co-Teaching and special class English Language Arts, reading, math and humanities. Provided support to students with disabilities by working closely with related service providers, the social worker, and psychologist to develop annual learning/emotional goals, behavior intervention plans, and Individualized Education Programs.

  Served as a mentor for an incoming special education fellow as she observed, facilitated small group instruction, crafted lesson plans, and taught whole group lessons in my classroom.

  Volunteer Advocate with the Victim Intervention Program

  Completed a forty-hour training on sexual assault and domestic violence facilitated by licensed clinical social workers, doctors, assistant district attorneys, special victims unit police officers, and educators from the American Civil Liberties Union. Volunteered for three, on-call twelve-hour shifts each month to provide counseling and resources to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence during their stay in the emergency department.

  Designed contest briefs based on the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) and SAT vocabulary for the Project Ed website to empower students, teachers and amateur filmmakers to create educational videos.

  Managed resolution of citywide concerns raised by families of students with disabilities to 311, elected officials, advocates, and central office staff. Developed resources, planned events, facilitated trainings, and represented the Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support at all family and community engagement events.
