      In this role, I am a Federal employee responsible for developing a new system (RF Interference Monitoring System or RFIMS) that will enable spectrum sharing with LTE wireless carriers in the 1695 MHz to 1710 MHz RF spectrum. RFIMS will detect, classify and identify destructive interference that may impact the integrity of the data downlink for NOAA satellites currently using that part of the RF Spectrum. RFIMS will also provide the capability to notify the responsible party or parties in the event the interference crosses the threshold established for initiating an appropriate mitigation response. RFIMS is a major Department of Commerce acquisition project that is being managed under the portfolio of the Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS) where I work.
