  Airline Transport Pilot - First Officer

  As First Officer at TAM, I was the Captain’s deputy in Airbus A320 aircrafts, exercising the role of Pilot-in-Command when so delegated, and holding their authority in their absence or incapacitation. My duties were essentially the same as of a Captain, however in a hierarchically subordinate level.This was my first civilian job, where I learned to work in a commercial airline environment. Flying much more often and extensively than in my previous pilot job in the military, I experienced challenging operations in all kinds of weather present in South America, ranging from tropical squalls to crossing the Andes mountain range, low infra-structure airports and a complex continental network.   As Airline Captain at Qatar Airways I exercised final authority related to the operation of wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircrafts, and was responsible for its safety as well as that of the passengers, crew and cargo during all phases of flight. To excel in it I relied in traits continuously developed over years involving leadership, commercial awareness, attention to customer or public relations, and a legal understanding of international laws and regulations.During this period I have flown between countries spread over 4 continents, facing the most challenging weather conditions and complex environments, ranging from low visibility in cold weather to hot desert dust storms, and also oceanic crossings, high elevation terrain tropical monsoons and so on. Additional complexity was brought daily by medical emergencies onboard, unruly passengers, special cargo and other matters which had to be handled by the crew or ground staff but managed by me.I proudly achieved my promotion to Captain in this company in November 2019. Previously I had been through the ranks of First Officer and Senior First Officer, dealing routinely with the matters described above, though as second in the chain of command. Show less
