    • DePaul University

      Jul 1996 - now

Keeping brand tenets and communication goals in mind—and often creating them-- I have served as a contributing editor, feature writer, copy editor and proofreader for print and electronic publications at DePaul University. DePaul Magazine won numerous awards while I was on staff. I have researched and written copy for marketing materials, including brochures, email, print and broadcast advertising, websites and social media. During my tenure, DePaul grew from 17,000 to 24,000 students. As a communication strategist, I created the communications plan for DePaul’s year-long centennial celebration, including an image advertising campaign and multiple videos. I co-created the marketing plan for University Center of Chicago, a new 18-story shared residence hall, exceeding rental targets by over 50 percent. I created DePaul’s primary social media accounts, including Facebook (now 50K+followers), Twitter (now 11K followers), Instagram, LinkedIn and Google+ pages. I co-created and grew DePaul’s Social Media Working Group to 170 members, wrote DePaul’s social media guidelines (cited by Charlene Li in her book, Open Leadership), and co-created a quarterly social media workshop.
