  I was hired to work over summer in the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, which is part of School of Biological Sciences and College of Science and Engineering. My role involved running the experimental research to investigate how Pseudomonas Aeruginosa evolves in Drosophila mutants with genetic modifications affecting their immune function. In this role I was responsible of run the experimental research, I helped optimise the experimental protocols and I analysed data using programming software such as R. Some of the experimental techniques I used include, but are not limited to, Drosophila handling, microbiology assays, systemic Drosophila infections etc. Show less

  My master's research project (TFM) involved investigating the effect of pre-amyloid cognitive intervention on structural and functional connectivity in a transgenic rat model of Alzheimer's disease. Some of the laboratory techniques involved in this project included the processing of brain samples, immunofluorescence labelling, protein quantification by Western Blots and analysing the morphology of microglial cells using confocal microscopy. For data analysis and quantification I have used programs including ImageJ, photoshop, Graphpad Prism and SMART3. Show less
