    • Maternity care coalition

      Feb 2015 - Oct 2019

I built partnerships between MCC and Medicaid insurers - both health and behavioral health - to improve health outcomes of high risk pregnant women, new mothers and their children. I oversaw a collaboration called MOMobile Safe Start that works to improve the health outcomes for pregnant and post-partum women with chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity or depression. I worked with hospitals, clinics, insurers and behavioral health providers to look for ways to strengthen maternal and child health. See June 2020 article in the American Journal of Public Health in the publications section of my profile.I advocated for policies that strengthen care and provide population-specific supports. As part of this advocacy, I participated on the state-wide Community Health Worker Policy Task Force, the PA Mental Health Parity Coalition, and Transitions in Care work group.I also work with our breastfeeding experts to improve workplace practices that support pregnant and breastfeeding moms. Show less I have successfully led several consultancies to date. Examples include: 1- Implementing the Safe Start Program, a partnership with health care providers, payers and community-based services to help pregnant women with chronic illnesses manage their health and have positive birth outcomes. Safe Start is one of three programs in the U.S. funded by the Merck for Mothers global initiative. 2 - Coordinating ACA enrollment training for a city-wide agency. 3 - Developing and writing a proposal for a CBH-funded mental health outpatient and addiction services site in Kensington. This proposal was accepted and is moving forwarded! Show less
