  The Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts began its work in 1981, when it enrolled the first generation of students at the Department of Acting. This was followed by the opening of the Department of Directing (1989), and in the war year 1994, the Department of Dramaturgy was also launched. An important segment of the Academy's work is realized on the "OBALA" Open Stage, the iconic Sarajevo theater, where students present their works, but also where professional actors, directors and writers enrich the theater life of Sarajevo and BiH with their work.Due to the quality proven in practice, the Academy's professors, former and current students have won more than 200 relevant awards in the field of theater, television and film. This institution is a multimedia academy, because acting, directing, production and dramaturgy are one, but they are manifested through different media. Show less
