      ~ Mr. Novak provides technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the review and development of effluent limitations guidelines and standards (ELGs). ~ Mr. Novak was responsible for analyzing industrial wastewater discharges and evaluating treatment technology performances, and conducting environmental assessments in support of EPA’s development of the ELGs for the steam electric industry. Mr. Novak assisted in development and revision of engineering cost and pollutant loadings methodologies used to estimate plant-specific compliance costs and pollutant reductions associated with baseline and five regulatory options for the final rulemaking. He reviewed new and existing industrial wastewater treatment technologies and specifically evaluated the environmental impacts associated with wastewater discharges from the steam electric power generating industry through site visits, literature searches, geospatial analyses, and ecological and human health modeling. Mr. Novak served a dual role supporting the engineering and environmental assessment aspects of the Steam Electric Rulemaking.
