      My pre-graduate research year was part of a larger clinical study examining the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in obese type 2 diabetes patients and healthy controls. Collaborations with Steno Diabetes Center Odense and the Department of Endocrinology at OUH.• Responsible for study protocol preparations, laboratory testing and training of subjects, daily contact with patients, grant writing, and collecting/processing of data.• Conducted 8-wks of training in 23 patients and >100 DXA scans, fat oxidation and VO2max tests.• Training increased insulin sensitivity (↑43 %), VO2max (↑11 %), and muscle mass (↑1.1 kg), while lowering fat mass (↓2.1 kg) and blood sugar (HbA1c: ↓4.0 mmol/mol) in type 2 diabetes patients.
