  I coordinated Board Members and volunteers to develop programs and events that encouraged women to reclaim their voices and power at the University of British Columbia (UBCO). My duties included but were not limited to: workshop development, event planning, paraprofessional counseling, reporting, public relations and social media management.My achievements included the creation of the Tea Talks workshop series, the organization of a Slut Walk to raise awareness of slut shaming and rape culture, the installment of a Red Dress campaign to raise awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, effective management of the social media platforms and the acquisition of a grant from the Equity and Inclusion Office.While working in close partnership with the UBC Student's Union Okanagan, the Equity and Inclusion office and Indigenous Programs and Services, I overcame the challenge of reintroducing a previously inactive resource center to the next generation of incoming University students.   I was responsible for the accurate and efficient administration, editing and maintenance of the York info Community Info Database for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library.In order to correct outdated and inaccurate information, I made frequent and cordial communication with community businesses and organizations. Not only did this help businesses meet their goals, it also increased aawareness of the database and various volunteering opportunities in Whitchurch-Stouffville. Accomplishments included the creation and presentation of a manual which taught organizations and community members how to use the database to connect with one another. I also expanded the existing network by adding 30 new essential organizations to the database. Show less

  As elected Communications Director, I was in charge of increasing the digital presence of the Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association (MACCA). My duties included redesigning and managing the organization’s website, as well as managing the social media, marketing and all communications materials.I was able to bring more awareness to the various programs that serve the African Caribbean community, such as the scholarship fund, summer camp program, reading programs, steelpan music history and digital literacy. I was also able to promote education by hosting fun, educational and cultural events during Black History Month, and by organizing various public speaking sessions. I was also responsible for establishing relationships in the community, and was successful in expanding an existing portfolio of relationships.
