      My professional experience as a translator/interpreter at the New Bulgarian University was mostly in line with my education, i.e. I was not employed under a labour contract. I have worked as a translator/interpreter in the course of my studies at the New Bulgarian University (NBU) in Sofia between 2000 and 2003. While working as a translator / interpreter, I had to translate all types of documents into and from English and German into and from Bulgarian, including academic references, language, birth and marriage certificates, diplomas etc. A further of my duties as a translator for the NBU included editing translations made by other colleagues, who also worked for the translation bureau at the University. I also provided assistance and support for the training of other translators and more precisely with terminology work. Further duties concerning my work as a translator included terminology research and proof-reading texts. I also prepared documents using translation tools, word-processing software and other office applications in the course of my specialization in translation at the University of Leipzig, Germany.       I have been working as a journalist for Bulgarian information agency AII Data Processing Ltd., a joint venture company with UK-US news agency Reuters & Dow Jones. My work as a journalist was closely related to using a computer on a day-to-day basis as the abstracts I produced were directly uploaded into the online database company of Reuters and Dow Jones called Factiva (www.factiva.com). My work included monitoring and clipping of news abstracts focused on economic and political events taking place in German-speaking countries and the European Union. Generally, my job was to monitor and summarize abstracts in English originally written in German. To sum up, the essence of my job comprised of monitoring, summarizing and translation of news from German into English, which are then uploaded and coded to Factiva, then owned by Reuters& Dow Jones.
