  Under the supervision of Dr. Toba A. Weinstein, M.D., I learned about the different aspects of pediatric gastroenterology. I shadowed Dr. Weinstein as she met with patients and performed various treatments and tests. My shadowing totaled 20+ hours.

  Under the supervision of Dr. Todd Preuss PhD., I performed various experimentations on both human and non-human brains testing for the presence of specific neurotransmitters. The aim of these experimentations was to identify human specializations of the cerebral cortex.Helped to author a paper titled, "Oxytocin- and arginine vasopressin-containing fibers in the cortex of humans, chimpanzees, and rhesus macaques."

  Under the supervision of Daniel Winkel, MD, and Brian Cabaniss, MD, I observed doctor-patient interactions and learned about neurologic disorders and their corresponding medications. My shadowing totaled 50+ hours.

  Under the supervision of Heather Cameron, PhD, I performed various experiments on transgenic rodent models to better understand the role of the dentate gyrus, a region of the brain implemented in emotional response and behavioral expression. This lab is part of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at the National Institutes of Health and is aimed to better understand mental health disorders.
