  • Experience

    • Camp ozark

      May 2019 - Jul 2019
      Camp counselor

Worked two two-week and two one-week sessions where I was assigned a different cabin of 10-12 year old girls for each period. During each session, I became a reliable partner for my co-counselors while also serving as a positive role model for my campers.

Screened pediatric patients and their families for COVID-19 symptoms and exposures before entering the clinic while also further ensuring a safe environment by regularly sanitizing high touch surfaces.

    • Liu lab

      Jul 2020 - Feb 2021
      Undergraduate student researcher

Volunteered in Dr. Bin Liu's Cardiac Physiology lab, studying novel treatments for catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, a calcium-dependent genetic heart arrhythmia. My responsibilities included preforming western blot experiments, learning how to isolate mitochondria from cardiac cells, and assisting with laboratory mice and cell isolation.

    • Brown lab

      Mar 2021 - May 2022
      Undergraduate student researcher

Researched the evolution of protist organisms by taking images of a novel protist using an electron microscope. Using the images captured, I would then use an online software to take measurements of the protist's body as well as its nucleus with the end goal of producing average measurements to characterize the organism.

    • Boys & girls club

      Jun 2021 - Aug 2021
      Americorps vista summer associate

Worked 40 hours per week at the Starkville Boys and Girls Club where I furthered the overall goal of AmeriCorps VISTA by aiding in poverty reduction through capacity building of a local non-profit agency. I was able to do this by helping to mobilize the organization's existing resources while also spending quality time with the kids in attendance.

    • Le bonheur diabetes clinic

      Jun 2023 - Sept 2023
      Graduate student researcher

Helped pilot the implementation of social determinants of health (SDOH) screening in the clinic's pediatric type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients in an effort to address health disparities contributing to adverse diabetes outcomes. In addition to the implementation of screening, I also assisted in the clinic's ability to offer resources and social work referrals to patients who screened positive for SDOH as indicated by the survey. At the conclusion of the project, I analyzed and interpreted data from the project and presented a poster on our results at Le Bonheur’s Pediatric Research Day. Show less
