      Business development manager

I worked for A1 Pharmaceuticals as a Business Development Manager. My role was to generate new business, increase revenue from existing accounts as well as sourcing products for the business to sell. I was expected to visit key accounts monthly to maintain relationships and develop business. I was given both warm and cold leads that I dealt with efficiently and proactively. I created my own database that helped me to ensure that I was consistent at achieving above target results. I was also responsible for making sure my accounts were up to date in terms of payments. I built up good/strong relationships with various companies I dealt with and I generated substantial amounts of new business for the company. I also had to regularly negotiate prices with my clients as we were constantly sourcing cheaper products and expanding our product range. Making sure profit margins were in line with company policy and making sure there were sales opportunities for these products was essential. Due to strong relationships built with my customers, I was often able to negotiate good discounts when sourcing new and current products. My role was quite varied at the company and on two occasions I co-managed two business trips for the company to Birmingham (Pharmacy show) and the Exophoarm Exhibition in Germany. My organisational skills played an important part of the success of both exhibitions. These were my biggest achievements at the company. Show less

      Heating sales advisor

I worked for British Gas as a Heating Sales Advisor. My role was to deliver a first class customer service and generate as much revenue as possible by converting customer leads into a sale. I visited customer properties where I provided them with advice and information on central heating systems along with a quotation for a new system. My appointments were generated through customer enquiries via British Gas call centres. Appointments were given to us weekly via email and would be between 08.00am and 11.00pm Monday to Sunday. Flexibility was extremely important as customers frequently changed appointments. I had quarterly sales targets and was rewarded with commission for the revenue generated. The role was home based and required excellent organisational skills and self- motivation. I was provided with a company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone. Prior to starting my position, most of my technical training was completed at a British Gas Academy over an eight week period where I learned about and was trained on gas central heating systems/products and safety. At the appointment along with providing an in-depth quotation, a risk assessment was carried out at the property. Fine attention to detail was required as the materials being removed were potentially hazardous.I was made redundant in September last 2011. There was no work for the labour. Show less

Your main responsibility is to manage your given subject from an assessment perspective and everything that goes with it, from managing the SV workforce to answering customer queries. When I joined as Subject Leader in 2015 I was given Applied Science as my Subject to manage. When I took it on there was a 3/4 month backlog of issues and queries that needed clearing urgently because we didn't have enough SVs to verify our registered Science centres. Within my first 2 months in post, I managed to clear the entire backlog of queries and bring the subject back up to date.My other main responsibility is to Project-Manage the OSCA process alongside my manager. It is our duty to run the entire process which starts with developing the materials/test and ends with us uploading these tests and setting them to live on the website. This is a huge responsibility as it is business critical. The process always has hurdles to overcome and it has helped greatly with my problem-solving skills and ability to think on my feet.Last year in the absence of a QDAM for my team I had to manage the project on my own. We had been experiencing delays throughout the year due to a new template being implemented. As this put a huge risk on whether the OSCA window would open on time, I had to raise the issue with senior management so that measures could be put in place to prevent this happening. With various meetings and discussions regarding this issue, the avenue chosen was for more resourcing to be put into the design department so that they could lessen the time it took for them to finalise the materials. With this action taken, it allowed us to move back on course for the targeted window opening date. We managed to successfully open the OSCA window on time and was commended for doing so under extreme time constraints and pressure. Show less I worked for Pearson’s as a BTEC Specialist for the Teaching Services / BTEC Assessment Department. My main responsibility was to monitor and to organize the BTEC delivery inbox. My daily tasks included responding to queries from SV’s, exams officers and other departments. I was required to use a wide range of specialist software to carry out the role as well as using all Microsoft office tools. I also worked extremely closely with the Internal Assessment team in order to get relevant information so that fast and effective responses could be given to our colleagues and customers.Whilst working in this post I was asked to step up and act a Subject Leader for Applied Science to cover an absence for 6 weeks. I gained a vast knowledge of internal assessment rules and felt in a better position to answer queries for all sectors once back in my support role. Due to the varied role I was performing for assessment, I was asked by the internal assessment delivery manager to design a training document that could be given to a new starter to support them with their role during their early stages in assessment. The document has been approved and is still being used today. Show less
