  Following my previous role, I was elected to be Vice President of Grey College JCR for a year, designating me as 'most senior student' in my college. The role also sees me:- Be Chief Whip of over 40 different officers, in a charity with over 900 paying members.- Chair Formal Committee and be ultimately responsible for organising and running all formal dinners.- Sit on Core Exec, Exec, Finance and Governance committees.- Organise Vice President's Day Out, a budgeted event which I have personally re-introduced.- Help organise Freshers' Week and facilitate connections with Grey College alumni.   Investment Analysis and Financial Planning - Work Experience

  I completed two weeks of work experience with Irwin Mitchell Asset Management, spending one week with the investment analysis and another with the financial planning team. This gave me a valuable insight into not only how the investments of High-Net-Worth Individuals are managed, but how a company tailors its services for its clients. In the case of Irwin Mitchell many of its clients have received substantial lump-sum compensation following life-changing events. As such I learnt how risk profiles are adapted for these clients, with an emphasis on a long-term outlook. Some of my main responsibilities during my work experience included:-Researching and presenting a project on the Inflation Reduction Act's impact on Europe.-Using a Bloomberg terminal to assist in my research. -Interpreting macroeconomic trends to adjust investment portfolios.-Experiencing client-advisor meetings, with a focus on how specific client needs affect investment decisions-Optimising client-advisor partnerships to improve efficiency.   Student Experience Day

  I attended a Student Experience Day in RBC Brewin Dolphin's new Birmingham office, where alongside other students I heard from a range of professionals throughout the day. This involved:-Hearing from experienced industry professionals about their own journeys thus far and the skills needed to be a competitive applicant post-COVID.-Exploring the variety roles involved in the sector, including paraplanning, administration, financial planning, and wealth management.-Networking with other attendees, including sharing strategies in entering a career in financial services and giving advice to those looking to apply to university.
