  I was an internal auditor for Clark Equipement as an intern during my studies (5 months of 1985) and then as a full time employee, after I completed my MBA in 1986. Job responsibilities included all classical aspects of internal control systems, cycle audits, fraud audits and process analyses. These services were initially performed exclusively for Clark's subsidiaries worldwide (I was based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany), but were eventually sold to other Fortune 500 companies as an outsourced service.   I coordinated budget, capital appropriations, monthly reporting and consolidations for one of the world's top three distribution groups; worked intensively with local managers to establish and integrate subsidiaries in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

  Yrel Electronics, a French company, was in receivership when the EON Group (previously called "VEBA") purchased it. My job was to "rightsize" the company, by consolidating sites, repairing customer and supplier relationships, and by streamlining the processes, such that the survival of the company was ensured. During a very intensive two year period, we nursed the company back to health and profitability.

  I successfully managed the complete responsibility for operations, including the entire customer support function, for the Video and Networking Division for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I carried organizational, budgetary and personnel responsibility for 9 teams in 8 countries. Served as liaison to Corporate (U.S.) in issues of organizational development and worldwide support strategy.   I was responsible for the worldwide infrastructure of the company, and for downsizing the operations of the company to approximately 1/4 of its original size. This involved "rightsizing" all traditional areas of operations, including people, offices and infrastructure. I initially reported into the CFO and eventually to the CEO of the corporation. Direct involvement included offices in Australia, Korea, Japan, China, the U.S.A., France, the U.K. and Germany.
