  I was responsible for preparing the agenda of the executive board meetings and for all forums. I was also in charge of taking minutes at all board meetings and chapter forums. I created and maintained a master calendar for all forums, board meetings, and chapter events. It was also part of my duties to keep track of and enforce officer attendance in all forums and board meetings. I was very involved in all of the events and represented the organization and chapter with grace and pride.

  The Santa Monica College Speech and Debate Team is a competitive team that travels to local tournaments to compete against other colleges. We compete primarily in the IPDA style of parliamentary debate​, as well as in many of the Individual speech events such as Impromptu, Extemporaneous, Informative, and Persuasive speaking.The debate team allowed me to overcome my public speaking anxiety and also improved my critical thinking skills. When I came to the states, I was not fully proficient in English. With practice and time, I was able to face my fears through routine debates and speech training. I participated in different debate tournaments, such as the International Public Debate Association and speech tournaments at various universities. Show less

  President’s Ambassadors provide student leadership, assist at college events and community functions, give campus tours, serve as guides for special guests of the College, present to classes, clubs, and organizations, and they promote college life, campus involvement, and academic excellenceSelected from over 30,000 students to join a prestigious cohort that represents SMC's President at community events, fundraisers, and school activities. I had the privilege to represent SMC in all of its diversity by monitoring events, welcoming new students, and visitors and giving tours. My main duties revolved around helping students regularly to find the resources they need on campus. I also promoted the student body to get involved. I held regular leadership workshops throughout the semester. My main obligation was to plan and host two semi-annual new member prestigious induction ceremonies where we recognize our members as official Kappans.
